Boys Track Wins Western Conference Championship

Bethany's 4 x 200 Meter Relay Team Win the Championship at the Weatherford Eagle Invitational.

Weatherford, OK - Bethany's boys track team is heading in the post-season running well as they bring home the schools first Conference Championship since joining the Western Oklahoma Athletic Conference. The Western Conference, which Bethany joined in 2019, is made up of twelve schools; Anadarko, Bethany, Blanchard, Cache, Chickasha, Clinton, Elk City, Kingfisher, Newcastle, Tuttle, Weatherford and Woodward. Many of these schools are championship caliber track and field programs year in and year out in the State of Oklahoma.

The Bronchos, who won the State Championship in three relays a year ago, only returned one runner off of those relay teams, Taylor Heim. Heim, was also the 2022 Class 4A Long Jump State Champion and he brought home that event championship from the Western Conference last week as well. Bethany's 4 x 100 Meter Relay team also won the Western Conference Championship and has 2nd fastest time in the state going into regionals. Bethany's 4 x 200 meter relay has also been running well as they currently have the fastest time in the State of Oklahoma in Class 4A this year heading into regionals. In other events the Bronchos had a conference champion in the 800 Meter Run, as Levi Johnson ran 2:06.70, and in the 200 Meter Dash where Evenson Malaska ran 23.13.

Bethany heads to the Regional Championship in Enid, OK at Chisholm High School on Saturday, April 28 at 9:30 AM. The Bronchos are the defending champions of the Chisholm Regional. The teams attending this year are updated and this promises to be an exciting and close race to the regional championship between Bethany and Western Conference foe Elk City.
