Lambert Leads Girls Track to 3rd Place Finish at 57th Bethany Invitational

Sylvia Lambert finished in the top three in the high jump, 100 Hurdles, and 300 Hurdles as well as anchoring the champion mile relay team.

Bethany, OK - Friday, April 20 marked the 57th annual Bethany High School Track & Field Invitational as well as the Bronchos final regular season meet of the 2018 season. The Lady Bronchos ended the regular season with by far their best team performance of the year with a 3rd place finish out of 16 teams and Sylvia Lambert was a big reason why. Lambert, a sophomore, has top five marks in both hurdles events in Class 4A this season and Friday she finished 2nd in the 100 Meter Hurdles and 300 Meter Hurdles. The only competitor that beat Lambert was Bailey Christiansen from Bishop McGuinness who has top five times in Class 5A in both events this year. Lambert also added a second place finish in the high jump on the day and ran a fantastic anchor leg, bringing Bethany from 3rd place to 1st on the 4 x 400 Meter Relay, the meets final event. Lambert was joined on that relay by Kelsey Knox, Kaylen King, and Olivia Parent.

The girls 4 x 800 Meter Relay team of Alicia Garrett, Peyton King, Jessie Harris and McKenzie Jernigan also ran their best time of the season so far, 11:05.67. Garrett also added a 5th place finish in the 800 Meter Run later in the day while Jernigan finished 6th place in the 1600 Meter Run. The Lady Bronchos also added some valuable team points in the 400 Meter Dash with both Kaylen King and Kelsey Knox finishing in the top six.

The Lady Bronchos will head to the Class 4A Regional Championships next Saturday, April 28 in Enid, OK at Chisholm High School.
