2018 Basketball Playoff Brackets Released (Updated 2/19)
Bethany, OK - The OSSAA has released the basketball playoff brackets for the Class 4A Playoffs which will be contested from February 16 through March 10 around the state. Bethany ended up in Area I of the Class 4A brackets. The first round of play is the District Round which is made up of just two teams. Bethany will go on the road and take on Weatherford in the first round on Friday, February 16 at Weatherford HS. The girls game will start at 6:30 PM and the boys game will begin at 8:00 PM.
On the boys side of the bracket Bethany will be the favorite against Weatherford after the Bronchos defeated the Eagles early in the season 61-40 in Bethany. Bethany (15-7) is currently ranked #18 in the Class 4A coaches poll. After the area round Bethany will advance to regional play on Thursday, February 22 in Cushing, OK. The Bronchos region includes the #6 ranked team in the state, Mannford (21-1). After the February 22 game in Cushing the remainder of the regional round will be played in Harrah, OK. If the Bronchos advance past the Regional Round they will then compete in the the Area tournament. In addition to the teams in the region, Area I includes both #1 Kingfisher (21-0) and #11 Elgin (16-6) and these games will be played at Stillwater HS in Stillwater, OK.
On the girls side of the bracket Bethany will be the underdog in the game against #14 ranked Weatherford as the Eagles have defeated Bethany twice this year. The Lady Bronchos region is very difficult overall as it includes #2 Harrah (19-3) and #16 Cushing (17-5) in addition to #14 Weatherford (15-6). Like the boys the first day of regionals wil be played at Cushing HS while the remaining two days will be played in Harrah, OK.
