Burns Scores 41 to Lead Bronchos to the Championship

Bethany boys after winning the championship game of the Jones Tournament.

Jones, OK - The Bronchos (4A-#14) took care of business the first two days of the Jones Kiwanis Tournament by defeating Jones (3A) 62-35 and Woodward (4A) 71-44. With those two wins they notched a spot in the championship game against a top 10 team in class 4A, John Marshall (4A-#8). In the title game Bethany would control things from the start leading by 17 points at halftime of the contest. The Bronchos remained hot behind good shooting as well as stellar play from senior guard Brennan Burns, who had 41 points on the night, which not only helped the Bronchos win their 2nd straight tournament championship, but also saw Burns join the 1,000 point club.

The Bronchos would close the deal in the second half to preserve a 72-52 victory. This win is the 2nd top 10 victory of this season for Bethany as they also defeated Holland Hall (4A-#4) 43-38 earlier this season. After playing four games last week the Bronchos have a much needed break as they don't return to action until Friday, January 31 against Weatherford (4A-UR). Weatherford is 6-9 so far this season.
