Bronchos Cruise Past Cushing in Regional Play

Cushing, OK - The Bronchos came into the first round of the 4A Regional Tournament after a sub-par outing at Weatherford a week ago needing to get back on the winning track and they accomplished that mission against Cushing. The Bronchos didn't play their best first half of the year as they were only leading 21-17 going into halftime, but a strong second half spurred the Bronchos to a 19 point victory over Cushing, 49-30.

Sophomore guard Brennan Burns led Bethany in scoring on the night with 16 points, 12 of those being in that second half where the Bronchos played like the top 20 team everyone saw in the middle part of the season. Sam Brandt also had a good night for the Bronchos adding 12 points. The Bronchos completely ran away with this one, outscoring Cushing by 15 points in the second half alone. Bethany will try and continue to play like this the remainder of this regional tournament with the hopes of staying alive into next week.

After Bethany's (4A-#18) victory they will take on Mannford (4A-#6) on Saturday at 3:00 PM in a loser's bracket game, with the loser being eliminated from the playoffs. The remainder of the 4A Regional Tournament will be played at Harrah High School. Mannford, who went into their game against Harrah tonight with a record of 23-1 was give their second loss of the season, so it will be a battle of top 20 teams in the loser's bracket game.
