Boys Soccer Soars into Semi-Finals with Win Over Woodward

Warr Acres, OK - After a day of torrential rains it was up in the air as to whether the Bronchos would get to take the field in their State Quarterfinal game last Thursday. After some last minute changes the games were able to be played on the turf at Putnam City Stadium and the Bronchos continued on their impressive post season run by beating Woodward 2-1.

Despite some adversity in weather and location change, the boys team were ready for a good Woodward team. The Bronchos came out and executed the game plan to perfection, getting the ball into wide areas and delivering quality balls all game long. Beckham Williams did a great job in creating a great scoring opportunity finding Landon Brant in the middle of the box who had a nice composed finish giving the Bronchos a 1-0 lead half way through the first half. Despite being dangerous all half, the Bronchos took a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the 2nd half, Bethany came out on the front foot, continuing to create chances, and Rylun Sanders scored on a corner kick halfway through the second half to give the Bronchos a 2-0 lead. The defense played great all game long limiting the Woodward offense and frustrating them for most of the evening. Woodward would score with 1:00 minute left in the game, however the Bronchos remained composed and ran out the clock to reach the Sem-Finals for only the third time in program history.

The Bronchos will face Hilldale in the State Semi-Finals on Tuesday night, May 9. Based on how the bracket fell, Bethany will get to host this game at 7:00 pm and look to make school history with their first State Championship appearance in boys soccer.
