Broncho Soccer Splits with Clinton

Lady Broncho Soccer Player Brooklyn Spindle

Bethany, OK - The Broncho Soccer teams hosted their first home contests of the 2021 season Friday night against perennial soccer power, Clinton (4A), and came away with a 3-1 win on the girls side and a 2-1 loss on the boys side. The girls game was a close contest through the first half, but Braelyn Baker took the game over early in the 2nd half scoring two masterful goals and giving the Bronchos a 2-1 lead. Katelyn Hoefar added a final goal later in the contest for the Lady Bronchos to secure the win. The 3-1 win comes just a couple of days after the Lady Bronchos won their season opener 2-1 over Woodward (4A).

The boys game started much like the girls contest as a close, hard fought battle, and went into halftime in a 0-0 tie. The second half saw the scoring start early when Bethany's Dax Jaggers scored an excellent goal less than a minute out of halftime to give the Bronchos a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately for the Bronchos, Clinton scored a goal of their own just a few minutes later and followed it up with another goal to take a 2-1 lead. After that strong defense returned for both teams and despite their best efforts the Bronchos couldn't get another goal in to force overtime. Bethany falls to 0-2 on the season, this close loss to Clinton comes just two days after the Bronchos dropped their season opener in PK's to Woodward.

The Bronchos return to action on Tuesday, March 9 at Chickasha (4A). The girls game will take place at 6:00 PM with the boys game to follow.
