Boys Track Wins Regional Championship

Enid, OK - The Bethany Track & Field Teams headed to the Class 4A Regional Championships in Enid this past weekend and the boys team left the meet as the regional champions as a team. Bethany scored 144 points in the meet while Cushing was second with 115 points. The Bronchos led the way with three first place finishes in the relay events as well as a second place finish in the 4 x 800 meter relay. The 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams continued to run well in a record breaking season where they now hold a Bethany High School Record in both events. Those relay teams are made up of Jackson Clark, Jocelyn Malaska, Taylor Heim and Aedan Hughey. 

The Bronchos also set a new school record in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay with a time of 3:26.36. This is the 2nd best time in Class 4A this year and is the third school record relay set by the team this year. This relay team was made up of Karter Fouts, Jocelyn Malaska, Jackson Clark and Chapman Neal. The boys 4 x 800 Meter Relay team also ran their best time of the year in 8:34.27. This team is made up of Karter Fouts, Chapman Neal, Kylar Peterson, and Levi Johnson.

In the individual events the Bronchos had some high finishes. Chapman Neal was the champion of the 800 Meter Run and was also 3rd place in the 400 Meter Dash. Taylor Heim was also a regional champion in the Long Jump as well as finishing in 2nd place in the 200 Meter Dash. Jackson Clark was also the regional runner up in the 400 Meter Dash, running a time of 50.39, which is the 3rd best time in Class 4A this year through regionals. Jocelyn Malaska finished in 3rd place in the 100 Meter Dash and will advance to the State Championships. Also, the Bronchos had a strong showing in the high jump as both Cameron Wright and Caleb Palmer jumped a height of six feet. Wright finished in 2nd place and Palmer in 5th place based on misses, but both will advance to the State Championships as well.

On the girls side, Bethany's Tabitha Sparks also will advance to the state meet in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, and 400 Meter Dash. Sparks holds the 2nd best time in the state this year in both the 100 Meters and 200 Meters.

The state meet will start on Friday, May 6 at Catoosa High School in Catoosa, OK.
