Bethany Names Brett Cannon as Head Boys Basketball Coach

Bethany is proud to announce the hiring of Brett Cannon as the next Head Boys Basketball Coach for the Bronchos. Prior to coming to Bethany, Coach Cannon was the head coach for Berryhill High School in the Tulsa area. Coach Cannon is originally from the OKC Metro Area as he was the All Time Leading Scorer at Del City High School as well as the Valedictorian for his graduating class. Before coaching at Berryhill he served as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at both Northeastern State University and East Central University. Prior to getting into coaching, Brett graduated from Del City High School. He then went on to play collegiate basketball at East Central University where he helped lead his team two times to the Great American Conference championship. He was also a team captain at East Central and was a Great American Conference All Tournament Team selection. He holds the East Central Record for most triple doubles.

After college, Coach Cannon went to Europe and played professional basketball. During his time in Europe he played in London, England for the Hemel Storm and in Cuxhaven, Germany for the Cuxhaven Baskets. Away from basketball, Coach Cannon enjoys golf, snowboarding and going on walks with his wife Paige and their two dogs. Jon Arthur, Bethany's Athletic Director, said "Coach Cannon is going to be an awesome addition to our athletic department. He has played and coached the game of basketball at a high level and will also be a great example to our student-athletes off of the court. He is committed to building a strong program at Bethany by making the players better, both on the court and in life. We are excited about the positive leadership that Brett will bring to our program and our school community."

When asked about his coach philosophy, Coach Cannon said, "Our program will be built on playing tough. Toughness is built in layers and having a detail-oriented daily approach. Our players will be held accountable to a high standard every day in all aspects of their lives." Coach Cannon also said his college coach, Ja Haven's is the coach who has most impacted his life. "Coach Havens has had a tremendous impact on my life on and off the court. His commitment to be the best at his craft is second to none. All while intentionally focusing on being a great husband, father, and friend. He creates a sense of family in his programs that I strive to replicate at Bethany." Bethany is excited to welcome Coach Brett Cannon!
