Boys Basketball State Tournament Preview

The OSSAA released game times for the state tournament and the Bronchos (4A-#8) will take on Broken Bow (4A-#6) on Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 PM at Deer Creek High School. CLICK HERE to view the full brackets

The Bronchos come in fielding a record of 21-5 on the season and riding the wave of upsetting the number one ranked team in the state, Kingfisher, last Friday night in the Area Championship game. Broken Bow comes in with a record of 21-7, but has had a couple of rocky moments so far in the playoffs. They first lost to Classen SAS (4A-#12) in the regional finals 87-93. After that loss though they were able to work their way back through the loser's bracket of the Area Tournament with wins over Idabel (4A-UR), Central-Tulsa (4A-#4), and Newcastle (4A-UR) to reach the state tournament. The 75-65 win over Central-Tulsa was extremely impressive on Friday of the Area Tournament.

The winner of Bethany and Broken Bow will move on to the State Semi-Finals on Friday at Noon where the games will move to the historic "Big House" at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. In that game the opponent would be the winner of Holland Hall (4A-#3) and Ada (4A-#7). Holland Hall is sitting at 23-3 so far on the season and is also an Area Champion. Bethany and Holland Hall squared off in January in the championship game of the Bethany Basketball Classic with the Bronchos coming away with a 43-38 victory.

The rest of the bracket set's up nicely for the Bronchos with both Kingfisher (4A-#1) and Heritage Hall (4A-#2) on the opposite side. Kingfisher and Heritage Hall, should they both win Thursday, will match up on Friday night at 9:00 PM in the other state semi-final game. Kingfisher must get past (4A-#12) Classen SAS in the opening round whereas Heritage Hall would have to take down Daniel Webster (4A-#5).
