Cross Country Teams Finish Strong at the State Meet

Shawnee, OK - The Bethany boys and girls cross country teams both competed at the Class 4A State Championships on Saturday, October 20 and brought home strong finishes in a very competitive 4A field.

The Lady Bronchos finished in 14th place overall as a team out of 21 teams that qualified for the state meet. Class 4A in Oklahoma is made up of 40 schools total. Freshman Katelyn Hoefar was the leading finisher for Bethany as she came across the line in 28th place overall, while Jessie Harris was also a top 50 finisher as she crossed the line in 42nd place. The boys team finished in 8th place overall in the meet, again out of the 21 teams that qualified. Freshman Chapman Neal was the top finisher for Bethany in 24th place overall, while Daniel Birchell and Carson Shirola also cracked the top 50 in the meet. The Bronchos return a large number of runners for next season and look to improve on these finishes.
