Broncho Soccer Finishes in 5th Place in Bethany Tournament

Junior Eventz Malaska (6) controls the ball with his body in Bethany's loss to Dove Science Academy. Malaska scored two goals in this game.

Bethany, OK - The Bethany boys soccer team started their own tournament with a disappointing loss to Dove Science Academy this past weekend, but finished strong by rallying to a 5th place finish. In that opening game Bethany got two goals by junior Eventz Malaska to take a 2-0 lead into the second half, but unfortunately Dove took control the rest of the way. Dove scored two goals in the second half to tie the score and send the game into penalty kicks which would eventually see the Bronchos fall. This game sent Bethany into the loser's bracket the rest of the way.

The Bronchos did play well in the other two games of the tournament, first defeating Newcastle by a score of 2-0 in Friday's loser's bracket game. The Bronchos then came back on Saturday and had a strong performance in a 2-1 victory over Classen SAS, a team who has a signature win over Heritage Hall earlier this season. These two wins moved Bethany into 5th place in the tournament standings.

The Bronchos next take on Crooked Oak on Friday, April 6 provided the Oklahoma Education Strike ends by that point. Crooked Oak is not participating in activities during the strike. If a strike continues past April 6 a makeup date will be worked out between the two schools and announced here on the website.
