Bronchos Run Rule Seminole Twice in District Doubleheader

Bethany's Frederick Wilson (21) makes a great play get the out late in the win.

Bethany, OK - The Bronchos have gotten great pitching so far this season from seniors Chase Wetwiska and Jake Adams, but in this weeks district series against Seminole (4A) the two have never been quite as dominant. The Bronchos took both games of the district doubleheader to move to 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in district play. Between Wetwiska and Adams the Bronchos gave up no runs and only one hit on the day with both pitchers going all five innings of the run rule shortened games.

Wetwiska was on the mound for the first game of the Tuesday doubleheader and he was spectacular from the start striking out batters left and right as the Bronchos cruised to a 10-0 victory. He had 13 strikeouts in a game that only went five innings while throwing a no hitter. The only blemishes that kept Wetwiska from throwing a perfect game was a single walk and a catcher's interference that gave Seminole a base runner early in the game. As spectacular as Wetwiska was the Bronchos were good both on defense as well as with the bats in this one. During the beginning stages of this game the Broncho's made it look like batting practice. Connor Walstad hit a deep shot early on to score the first runs of the game and DH Carson Palmer had two hits later on to continue the scoring barrage.

In game number two Jake Adams took the mound for Bethany and didn't give Seminole any kind of a break as Bethany once again had a 10-0 victory. Like Wetwiska he had 13 strikeouts in a game that only went five innings due to the run rule. Adams did give up one hit on a ground ball to the short stop as the fielder had difficulty getting the ball out of his glove and the runner made it to first before the throw, but that was all Seminole had on the day. Seminole continue to have their own struggles on the mound walking nine Bethany batters in this game which allowed Bethany to have runners in scoring position all day long.

Bethany travels to Newcastle on Thursday, March 15 for a varsity game against Newcastle. The Bronchos next home game is a Saturday afternoon battle with 4A powerhouse Tuttle at 12:00 PM.
