Boys Soccer Downs Weatherford 3-0

Bethany senior Soccer player Cody Hunt

Weatherford, OK - The Broncho's Boys Soccer team traveled to Weatherford on Tuesday night to take on the Eagles, a playoff team from a year ago in class 4A. Bethany who dropped their season opener last week to Heritage Hall was able to rebound in a big way this week with the 3-0 defeat of Weatherford. Weatherford entered the game 1-0 after a victory in their opener over El Reno (5A).

Bethany got on the board midway through the first half with a header by Denton Parsells on an assist from Eventz Malaska and never looked back in this one. Braden Hopkins added another header goal before halftime on a Luis Lopez assist to take a 2-0 lead into the half. Throughout much of the second half the game showcased the defenses of both squads, but Bethany's back line was stellar in limiting the Eagles' opportunities to get shots on goal. After a defensive half Bethany's Benito Ausley added the final goal (Assist - Raymond Rojas Lopez) to put the Bronchos up 3-0.

Bethany Coach Sean Williams said "All together it was a solid performance on the road with windy conditions. That first half was by far the best half we've played all year." This was also the first shut out of the season for Connor Belknap and Jose Delgado who split the goal keeping responsibilities in this one.

The Bronchos are off until Tuesday, March 13 when they will take on Chickasha (4A) who is the team that knocked Bethany out of the playoffs a year ago.
