Baseball Splits Games on Opening Weekend of the Season

Bethany, OK - Baseball season is underway in Bethany and the Bronchos went 1-1 in the opening weekend of play. In the season opener Bethany (4A) traveled to Deer Creek to take on a class 6A state qualifier team from last season. Bethany held their own with the traditional big school baseball powerhouse, falling by a final score of 5-3. The Bronchos had eight hits on the day to just six hits by Deer Creek, but Bethany also had two errors in the field compared to none for the Antlers. Bethany's Connor Walstad and Frederick Wilson both had the bats going on the day hitting a triple and double, respectively at key points in the game.

In the second game of the opening weekend Bethany (4A) was able to get a 2-0 win over Oklahoma Christian Academy (A-#17). The Bronchos had a fantastic defensive effort on the day and were led by freshman pitcher Gray Adams who went six innings and finished with the win. Diego Ramirez came in for the final inning to come away with the save. The Bronchos had six hits on the day to OCA's three and the game changer was senior Jake Adams' first home run of the season. Also of note was another freshman, Payton Tolle, who hit a timely triple in his first high school at bat.
